These words are examples of adverbs of time. They tell when an action happens. We usually use them at the end of a sentence:
I’ll see you later.
Let’s meet soon.
We need to go now.
I’m starting a new job today.
We went to the park yesterday.
I’m going on vacation tomorrow.
It’s also possible to use these words at the beginning of a sentence:
Today we are working at home.
Yesterday she went to the bank.
Present Simple vs. Present Continuous
I drive to school every day.
She works in Washington, D.C.
I’m driving right now.
She’s working at home today.
I’m going to the doctor tomorrow.
He’s leaving at 5:00 today.
We use the present simple to talk about things we usually do or do every day:
We use the present continuous to talk about things we are doing right now or just at this time:
We also use it for things we plan to do in the future:
We use when to show that two things happen at almost the same time. The when clause shows the thing that happened first. The main clause shows what happened just after that or at the same time.
When all of her co-workers are busy, Anna is nervous.
The when clause can be before or after the main clause.
When the when clause is first, there is a comma between the clauses.
